Participant database
Registered data only serves for the organizational purpose of scientific experiments. These data will not be forwarded to third parties. We use this data for the following reasons:
- To inform and invite participants about new laboratory experiments and experiments on the internet.
- To make a selection about scientific-motivated participants.
- To check if participants attend/do not attend the experiment.
There is no link between the data generated in the experiment and the profile. Each participant can decide if they want to be invited to further experiments at any time. If requested, the participant is being deleted from the database.
Experiments
During the process of the experiment, data is being generated through the decisions the participant has to make. These data is being scientifically evaluated by the faculty of management and economics. By doing so, the decisional data is being anonymized and thus can not be linked to any person. Therefore, the participation in the experiments is anonymous. The generated, anonymized data is being used for the preparation of scientific research work and lectures.
Video experiments
During the process of video experiments, sound and picture of the participants is recorded. The data from the video is being evaluated. Transcripts of the conversation are being created in particular. The researchers are allowed to publish selected sequences for presentations. These record are being anonymized and can not be linked to the personal data of the participants.
Laboratory rules
In order to participate in experiments that are conducted by scientists in the MaxLab, you have to register online. The registration for laboratory experiments is a letter of intent for participating the experiments conducted by scientists in the MaxLab.
Rules for laboratory experiments
For every experiment, a certain number of people registered get an invitation via E-Mail. Only the people invited are entitled to participate. After receiving an invitation via E-Mail to a certain experiment, a positive answer of the participant is required, in order to be registered for the experiment. This answer is a binding commitment to join the experiment. For each experiment, there are more people invited than needed. The people that register first, can participate. Participants, who were invited and who arrive on time, but who can not join the experiment due to capacity or other factors, get a compensation for appearing at the laboratory. Usually, participants are paid in cash. The amount depends on the decisions of the participant itself or the decisions of the other participants.
Arriving on time is absolutely necessary! Participants should invest at least as much time as stated in the explanation of the experiment. During the experiment, the participants have to follow the rules given by the experimenter. In order to check that only invited and via E-Mail registered participants show up, participants has to prove their identity when demanded(document with picture). If one participant can not identify him/herself, he or she gets no compensation and might not be able to join the experiment. Participants who have committed to participate in an experiment but who arrive late/ who do not arrive at all, have to take into consideration that their behavior jeopardizes the implementation of the experiments due to a lack of participants. This behavior results in a negative evaluation of the profile of that person and might result in an exclusion from all experiments. Each participant can only register once in the system. Multiple registrations can result in an exclusion from all experiments.
With a registration for laboratory experiments you accept the following statements:
- I was being informed that my absence from/ coming late to an experiment I registered for can result in a cancellation of the experiment and in an exclusion for further experiments.
- For each absence after registering for an experiment – without a informing the person in charge of the experiment on time – there will be one negative point for the personal account of the participant. The more negative points a participant gets, the lower the chance to be invited to further experiments.
- The insurance protection in the rooms of the faculty exists in terms of the statutory liability provisions with a private law content. The faculty of economics and management is liable for all damages caused by the institution. There is no accountability independent cases of liability.
